Microsoft Ignite 2018 – Day 1 Summary

I am lucky enough to be at Ignite in Orlando for the 2nd year running which does mean a 2nd trip to Universal as well as all of the great sessions throughout the week! I have provided some key takeaways from today with photos and links where appropriate.

  • 135 million monthly active users in Office 365

  • Enable Config Manager and Intune Co-Management is straightforward and achievable within just 4 clicks! The immediate benefits include:
    • Unified reporting
    • Conditional access policies
    • Immediate operational capabilities – such as remote wipe

  • Legacy Win32 app deployment support added to Intune

  • Intune security baselines
    • Similar to the Group Policy Object security baselines but for Intune managed devices

  • Windows AutoPilot to work with existing PC estate via SCCM and Intune

  • SCCM policy can be created to update MSI Office installations to Office Pro Plus and remove legacy installations
